Knight Mimic

For this project I used my previous portfolio piece, the Lost Knight as a base to make an enemy that would act as an Mimic to the otherwise much more common knight enemy.

I made the highpoly in Zbrush before moving on to Maya for the lowpoly and UV mapping. I textured in Substance Painter and then rendered in Marmoset Toolbag 4. The ground and smaller environmental assets and their textures are from Megascans.

The otherwise common enemy roams, it's movements uncharacteristically janky and labored. Once it spots you it approaches with uncanny speed and when within range it suddenly transforms. Flesh is torn from within, as the final pained groans of the infected knight echoes out. The figure grows to an impossible height as rows upon rows of brightly colored legs twitches free from torn flesh. The transformation is complete and the towering creature that previously mimicked that of the knight it infected strikes out, lashing towards you like a serpent, swinging the severed upper body like a giant flail. All while gazing greedily upon you, it seems like it has found a new promising host.
